NATIONAL CANCER RESEARCH MONTH

May is National Cancer Research Month, a time to heighten awareness by highlighting the importance of lifesaving cancer research. While groundbreaking research continues to pave the way for better outcomes and quality of life, there’s still much work to be done. If you are looking for ways to help, please consider:

•Participating in research studies and clinical trials. Quite often, clinical trials and research studies avail critical information in both screening and treating cancers.

•Sharing your story (of participation and impact). Through our stories we inspire and equip others with knowledge, while dispelling myths and fears associated with those apprehensive of participating in research.

•Learn - Learning about the latest research and treatment trends may avail more treatment options.

•Become an Advocate. Getting involved by becoming an advocate and/or research partner. There are several programs that assist patients/survivors with their voices being heard through partnerships for research and/or impact policy and legislation for cancer research funding.

•Donating (helping to fund cancer research).

Because of advances in cancer research, more than 18 million people in the United States and more than 32 million people worldwide are cancer survivors. Whatever role you choose to take, your participation is greatly needed and appreciated.
