This past week has been eventful. We have been out in the community as usual strategizing on the work that needs to be done. Education is catalyst and we are on a mission, collaborating with our partners with a focus on changing the narrative for black women and breast cancer despite the landscape. This event was organized by our community partners Black Women For Wellness Los Angeles and sponsored by Fabletics. Yes, we were there!
Topics included:
Research and Pilot Projects
Special Intervention Programs
Safer Cosmetics
Health Equity
Support Services and screening
Several others from neighboring organizations (Cancer Community South Bay, Watts Health Foundation, WOC Breast Cancer Survivor's Support Project, AMAAD Institute and Project Food Box) were in attendance. Project Food Box is a new community resource catering to those with a chronic disease diagnosis (of any kind), and who are Medi-cal recipients. The event closed with a tour of the new mobile mammography unit from Watts Health Foundation. A special thanks to James Johnson, BSRS of Watts Health for 'taking it to the streets' (his work) in our community and for supporting this outreach.
Don't forget to register for this event!
